ConcentratOAR™ is an advanced forward osmosis (FO)-based process designed to maximize water recovery while concentrating challenging industrial streams. Built on FTS H2O’s proprietary membrane technology, the process effectively handles high-fouling, high-organic feedwaters across applications such as industrial wastewater treatment, landfill leachate management, food and beverage concentration, and Zero Liquid Discharge (ZLD).

By leveraging the natural osmotic driving force of FO, ConcentratOAR™ can process streams containing elevated levels of dissolved solids, organics, and other contaminants with reduced pretreatment requirements and reliable long-term operation. The result is a flexible, efficient solution that helps industries reduce waste volumes, recover water resources, and meet increasingly stringent environmental requirements.

How Does ConcentratOAR™ Work?

ConcentratOAR™ uses a pioneering membrane process called forward osmosis (FO) to concentrate brine and recover freshwater. FO uses a natural osmotic pressure difference to move water across a semipermeable membrane without the high operating pressures required by conventional filtration technologies. Water is drawn from the feed stream into a concentrated draw solution, leaving salts, contaminants, and other impurities behind.

Because FO relies on osmotic forces rather than high hydraulic pressure, it is particularly effective for treating difficult, high-fouling streams while maintaining stable performance and water flux. This makes FO a valuable technology for water recovery, brine concentration, and ZLD applications where efficiency and reliability are critical.
